R-Oil

R-Oil is a completely natural Extra Virgin Cold Pressed Rape Seed Oil grown on the farm in the Cotswolds.

Farmed alongside a variety of other cereal and environmental crops, the rape seed production reflects their interest in changing modern farming practices. It is planted to improve the soil, it is grown with great care and produced and bottled with every attention to detail.

Rapeseed Oil vs Olive Oil

Over the last few years cold-pressed rapeseed oil (the cold pressing is crucial, ensuring the oil remains natural with no nasty additives or heat being applied) is becoming a store cupboard essential for those in the know. Why? Three reasons the first simply being its wonderful subtle nutty flavour and beautiful golden yellow colour.

Health Benefits of Rapeseed Oil…

The second is undoubtedly the health benefits. For many years olive oil held the healthiest oil accolade but finally, British rapeseed farmers have got round to promoting the fact that these hay-fever inducing flowers actually produce the most wonderful oil that has only 6% saturated fat compared to 14% in olive oil and 10% in sunflower! Doctors have even started recommending it to patients because of this quality, as well as the fact it has ten times more Omega 3 than olive and is a rich source of Vitamin E.

Cooking Characteristics of Rapeseed Oil…

The third reason for cold pressed rape seed oil’s increase in popularity is due to its cooking characteristics. It has a high burn point making it ideal for roasting and stir frying where as olive burns at a lower temperature causing a bitter taste. On cooking, food doesn’t absorb rapeseed oil so easily, making it more economical and your food less greasy!
