2020 PYO Update

We want our customers to have access to the most delicious fruit at its freshest and this year the Pick Your Own can only run to give you access to this fruit – it cannot be the leisure activity we are used to.

We are implementing the following new procedures and rules to ensure both you and our team are kept as safe as possible whilst on the farm.

ENTRY:
Customers wanting to pick fruit will be asked to book a time slot online,  then arrive within that time slot to start picking. Tickets are free, but a ticket is required for each person attending including walking children. This will allow us to control the number of people in the fields at any one time. Groups of up to 6 people (we have increased this number from 4 after consultation) from the same household will be able to enter the fields – but must stay as a close group to ensure social distancing is achievable. Please look after children responsibly. You know your children, so we are not enforcing an adult to child ratio, but we need you to be confident you can mange young ones effectively.

All customers will be asked to wash / sanitise their hands before entering the fields. Basket selection can then be made, but we ask that customers only take sufficient baskets for their needs, as we can’t take surplus baskets back. (Empty baskets returned will incur a charge) If you are used to bringing your own containers, we are unable to weigh baskets on entry we can only offer a standard discount.

IN THE FIELD:
We have a one-way system to get to the fruit picking areas and you may be allocated a row to pick from during your session. Depending on numbers present, you may be required to remain in the row allocated

Staff will be on hand to help make sure people know where to go for their picking.

Customers are asked to only touch fruit they wish to pick.

All customers are asked to respect social distancing rules and stay at least 2 metres away from other pickers and our team members at all times.

AFTER PICKING:
Once you have filled your containers please leave the fields following the one-way system. There is no time limit to the time you may spend picking (inside opening hours!) but we do ask that you do not linger once you have finished picking.

A hand wash area will be available to you to wash your hands before getting back into your car.

Please note there are no toilets available for customers at present

We strongly advise that although the risk from consuming fresh produce is low, no fruit is eaten until you have been able to wash it at home.

A slot does not guarantee fruit availability, though we will let you know of any severe shortages, and daily updates are posted on our PYO facebook page, accessible here.  Please do check back every few days if you are unable to book in, as we will be releasing more slots regularly.

Please note Dogs are not allowed in the PYO area.
